Public Law is the intersection of litigation, politics, lobbying, and public relations.
Martin has been heavily involved in public law from the beginning of his career. This has included:
- litigation - drafting and leading judicial review and high court proceedings;
- representing clients in significant governmental and Ministerial reviews;
- lobbying central and local government; and
- undertaking complimentary media and public relations strategies where appropriate.
Judicial review has its own particular jurisprudence and thresholds. Martin has judicial review expertise both in relation to public law issues and the resource management field (non-notification).
Martin has an excellent ability to convey client concerns to politicians and official in an effective manner, given the time constraint under which they often operate. He has a clear understanding of government processes, and how best to engage with officials at an early stage in the process to achieve the best possible outcomes.
